Malawi Relief Fund empowers 95 with vocational skills

Malawi Relief Fund UK (MRF) co-ordinator Yakub Valli has said vocational training is crucial in empowering the villagers to be economically independent.

He said this at Maone Vocational Training Centre in Blantyre during the graduation of 95 students who underwent MRF Informal vocational training programmes.

Valli said after graduation, each one of the graduates receives a toolkit which includes essential tools and equipment to enable them start a business.

He said: “This programme is vital for the Malawi economy and the country’s objectives to promote empowerment and sustainability. ”

Valli said the organisation has spent over K18 million to buy the tool kits for the graduating students.

Group village head Nakata of Traditional Authority Ntchema in the district said the training will enable him start a business.
